On Sundays after church, it was a family tradition for Mr. Gregory T. Lim to bring his children to the Manila Chinese Cemetery to visit the mausoleum of his parents, who had both passed away when he was 31 years old. According to the Chinese tradition of filial piety, the children of deceased parents must prepare a memorial message to be placed in their crypt. With the assistance of a distinguished Taiwanese calligrapher, Mr. Lim prepared a loving tribute to his parents on behalf of himself and his siblings. During each Sunday visit, Mr. Lim would recite the poem displayed on the walls to his children.
